Skin Cancer

Skin cancer treatment demands accuracy, judgement and reconstruction — not simply removal. At SkinSurgeon®, skin cancers are assessed and treated within a consultant-led plastic surgery pathway, with careful attention to diagnosis, clearance, reconstruction and the final scar. Management may include biopsy, surgical excision, margin-controlled planning, reconstructive surgery (ehether laser or surgical), scar optimisation and, where appropriate, selected laser-based techniques for skin recovery and refinement. Particular care is taken with cancers affecting the face, eyelids, nose, lips, ears, scalp, hands and other visible or functionally important areas.

The aim is clear: treat the cancer properly, preserve function, and achieve the best possible aesthetic outcome. This is skin cancer care delivered with surgical precision, oncological discipline and reconstructive planning from the outset.

LASER+ Cream Chemotherapy Treatment for Basal Cell Carcinoma

Certain forms of skin cancer, like basal cell carcinoma, and pre-cancerous conditions like Actinic Keratosis, Bowens Disease and others, can be treated safely, effectively in a scarless fashion using laser treatments. Such treatments are in use by experts when surgery is not an options or will not be tolerated by a patient for various reasons. In selected patients it is safe, well tolerated, equally successful as surgery, with the additional benefit of avoiding donor areas, and scar formation accompanying traditional excision and reconstruction surgery

Certain forms of skin cancer, require surgical management, as they are either very agressive or cannot be amenable to treatment by other means. When this happens, surgery may be the way forward. As board certified plastic surgeons we will also take care of the reconstructive aspects, especially around noble areas such as the nose lipes eyelids and ears. And of course, sort out your scars down the line

Defect reconstruction using a rhomboid flap geometry

In certain cases, the resulting defect after a skin cancer excision is not amenable to simple closure. In these cases one or our core competences is to figure out the best option in your personal circumstances to achieve closure of the skin.

Sometimes this is through the use of a skin graft- a "spare part of skin" taken from one part of the body where there is plenty, to an area where there is little. At other times, the best cosmetic long term result is by geometrically shifting skin adjacent to the defect. At other times, it means bringing in skin and other tissue from distant parts with their own blood supply into the defect.

Nose Reconstruction in Malta

Nasal reconstruction is not simply closing a wound. Shape, cartilage support, airway, symmetry and scar quality all matter. At SkinSurgeon®, nasal defects following skin cancer, trauma or previous surgery are treated through a consultant-led reconstructive pathway.

Selected cases may involve complex composite grafts, cartilage support, local flap planning and advanced laser techniques to refine scar, colour, texture and contour. The aim is precise cancer reconstruction with restoration of form, function and facial balance.
